The Slovenian Armed Forces have begun testing the Mangart 25 air defense system. The Slovenian Armed Forces, in cooperation with a consortium of Slovenian defense industry companies and the leading company Valhalla Turrets, conducted the first test firing of the Mangart 25 air defense system on the Perun 4x4 vehicle and the Loki 762 weapon station on the light reconnaissance nuclear, radiological, chemical, and biological defense (NRCB) vehicle Cobra 4x4 at the Bač shooting range. The development of the technological model of a light remotely controlled air defense system (turret), integrated onto the 4x4 Mangart 25 light tactical vehicle, is the result of Slovenian expertise. It is being developed within a consortium of five companies, led by Valhalla Turrets from Ljubljana, and is one of the most important development projects funded by the Ministry of Defense. "After the first highly successful test firing, further development activities and extensive testing will follow to obtain the necessary certifications and achieve the final goal—the introduction of the weapon station into operational use by Slovenian Armed Forces units," the Ministry of Defense announced. The light weapon station Loki 762 is also the result of the engineering expertise of Valhalla Turrets, with key mechanical, optical, and electronic components manufactured in Slovenia. "It is one of the most compact remotely controlled weapon stations and currently the only one on the market available in three calibers: 5.56, 7.62, and 12.7 millimeters." The Slovenian Armed Forces participated in the final stages of the weapon station’s development, and its operational use in the 7.62-millimeter caliber is planned for reconnaissance JRKBO Cobra 4x4 vehicles and MAN 8x8 tactical trucks, the ministry added in its press release.
